MEET YOUR HOST

Hi, I'm Rob, professional UK pastel artist

One afternoon about 5 years ago, I was in the Louvre, standing in front of a Renoir, and I just... stopped. What hit me wasn't joy, it was sadness. A quiet, heavy feeling that I'd missed the opportunity to draw and that it was too late.

Then Covid hit. A friend's dog had passed away, and I drew him as a gift. When I posted it on Facebook, I was shocked, the commissions started flooding in and honestly, I felt like a trespasser. Me, an artist? How could I charge people? ... But that's where it all began.

Over the years that followed and over 300 commissions, I built a way of drawing that actually made sense, stage by stage, no guessing, no overwhelm and that got me good, fast. That became the FRAMED Method™. And I was excited to share it with people like you.

The Background — Foundation Layers

We start with the warm, glowing background layers that everything sits against. You'll learn how to build atmosphere with soft layered tone — the foundation that makes every portrait feel professional, not flat. Get this right once and you'll use it on every drawing after.

2 JUNE 22· 4:30PM BST

Coat & Fur Layers

We build Teddy's beautiful coat using my layering method — working across the whole drawing, colour by colour, so the fur looks alive on the page. You'll see how similar tones can be made using minimal pencils, why direction matters, and how lights and darks are what take a drawing from flat to wow. Clean, confident, realistic. No muddy colour. This is the session most people say changed how they see drawing entirely.

3 JUNE 23· 4:30PM BST

Eyes & Nose

The eyes are where a portrait either works or it doesn't. We'll work on depth, catchlights, and the soft transitions around the nose that bring a face to life.

4 JUNE 24 · 4:30PM BST

Refining & Finishing

The final details that make everything click — the whiskers, the highlights, the tiny adjustments that lift a good drawing into one you're genuinely proud of. By the end of today you're done, and Teddy is yours. And everything you've learned this week transfers to the next drawing you do, and the one after that, and the one after that 🙂

Today is the day you look at your complete picture and wholeheartedly say out loud "I did that!"

Everything you need to know

I'm brand new to art — will this go over my head?

No. This is designed for people who are new or returning to drawing. I teach step by step and guide you as you apply it yourself. No prior experience needed.

I'm already an artist — will this be too basic?

No. The FRAMED Method gives experienced artists a cleaner, faster approach to realism. Most artists who join say they pick up techniques they've been missing for years.

What if I can't make the live sessions? Is there replays?

Sessions are recorded and available immediately via your resources page. You'll have access to everything for 14 days. Many people prefer to watch live then draw along with the replay at their own pace. There's also a VIP upgrade available for lifetime access if you'd like to keep the tutorials permanently and draw along at your own pace or around your busy schedule.

What supplies do I need?

We keep the materials list as short and affordable as possible. You'll receive it as soon as you sign up. If you don't have or can't get all the materials, please don't panic... I will show you how to choose colours and use what you do have from your own collection. You can also just watch without drawing along too — there's no pressure either way.
